For indigenous
people of North America, the Turtle holds significant meaning. The
land of our origin is referred to by many of the tribal nations as,
“Turtle Island”.
The Turtle Island Communications, Inc. (TICOM) logo integrates the
four sacred directions, the four colors of the human race, and the
four elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. The color green in the logo
represents Mother Earth. The two lightning rods, or fiber symbols on
the Turtle’s back signify TICOM’s mission, which is to enhance Indian
Country’s telecommunication infrastructure.
Our company name and colors were selected as a means of aligning the
inter-connectedness of our culture and traditions, with the technology
tools of today to enhance the quality of life in Indian Country.
